Tent Frames: There are three basic types of wall tent frames: How to build a tent frame is significantly different with each type of frame.
-
INTERNAL FRAME: Galvanized steel wall tent frame or aluminum wall tent frame are normally used by individuals camping near a road. However, a lightweight aluminum tent frame can be easily packed. Internal frames are recommended as the internal frame rafters provide roof support. Other types of frames do not have rafters that are required to support your roof, especially during snow conditions.
- AN ANGLE KIT can be purchased and you can easily make your own frame. Purchase 1" electrical conduit at a local hardware store. The angle kit costs and your purchase of 1"steel conduit is much cheaper than purchasing and shipping an entire tent frame. It is recommended to have a rafter every 6' or less to prevent tent roof sagging and to increase snow load carrying capacity.
